The SGA Brand

What is SGA?

This year, my PR Co-Coordinator, Peter, and I decided to create an SGA brand. We wanted SGA to be as recognizable on campus as Apple or Coke. While we may not have accomplished that specifically, SGA has become a more recognizable entity on campus.

Peter came up our tag line: Professional. Accessible. Totally SGA.

Our branding starts with the logo (above). We wanted something bold and official, yet approachable. This logo accomplishes that. Also, in all of our printed and web documents, we use the three fonts above. Trebuchet is the free alternative to ScalaSans. We also have suggested colors. The gold and blue colors are the official colors of SGA, but the red and purple are used fairly often. We obey these standards as much as possible, but these are also a guide for the other executives in SGA. Most SGA branches have to do their own PR, so we help them by picking out their fonts, colors and logo. This way an executive can quickly publish something without having to worry about the design so that the information can get out to the student body as quickly as possible.

Week One

Week One is the first week for first-year students, so Peter and I did a massive PR effort to educate the first-years on what SGA is and how they can get involved.

CafFlyer

The CafFlyer is one of the main ways we keep the student body educated about events on campus. It is also the medium where we have the most fun because it is less formal than the other methods. These are examples of the CafFlyers I made:

Elections

We were responsible getting candidates to apply for the positions as well as the get out the vote effort. Over half of the student body voted in the primaries, which was the biggest turnout ever—even bigger than the general elections last year. The general elections this year had more people vote than in the primaries. While this is not solely because of our PR, we like to think we did our part. These some of the elections posters that I made:
